As the powersports market continues to grow, local dealers say now is a great time to buy that new motorcycle or ATV as interest rates are low and inventories are good.

“Sales were up last year but are down this year because of inflation, the economy and it won’t stop raining,” said Sean Moran, owner of Alpha Powersports, Duncansville.

His business is “loaded” with inventory, he said, adding that now is a great time to buy with interest rates being low.

“It is a buyer’s market,” Moran said. “Manufacturers realized they must do something to increase business.”

At Five Star Powersports, Duncansville, general sales manager Scott Cobaugh said, “Now is a good time to come out for a good deal.”

March through September are the busiest months, Cobaugh said. “There is not a better time to buy than now, we have good inventory and the deals are the best.”

Sales have been good at Roundhouse Harley-Davidson and Roundhouse Powersports, Duncansville, said general sales manager Steffan Wyland.

According to the International Market Analysis Research and Consulting Group, the United States powersports market size is projected to grow substantially between 2024-32.

Rising disposable income, a cultural shift toward outdoor recreation, technological advancements in high-performance vehicles, increased interest in off-road activities and a surge in customization trends represent some of the key factors driving the market.

Top sellers at Five Star Powersports include side-by-sides and off-road vehicles.

“People seem to be trending in that direction rather than motorcycles. Multi-passenger vehicles are big, it is something they can do with the entire family,” Cobaugh said. “They can go out and have the experience together.”

Wyland said the Roundhouse businesses have been busy.

“We are moving a lot of bikes and a ton of street bikes on the Powersports side,” he said, noting the Kawasaki Ninjas and the Z Series come in different sizes and are popular.

“Harley-Davidson has come out with street glide and road glide, which will be best sellers,” Wyland predicted.

For Moran, SeaDoo watercraft, spyders and fishing boats are among the top sellers at Alpha Powersports.
