Dow Jones appoints Ashok Sinha as head of communications

NEW YORK: Dow Jones has hired Ashok Sinha as SVP and head of communications, effective September 18. 

Sinha, reporting to Dow Jones CEO Almar Latour, will oversee all corporate communications functions globally, including PR, internal, external, executive and financial communications, according to a company statement. 

Latour said in a statement that Sinha will develop and tell Dow Jones’ story as “as we continue our transformation as the world’s leading business news and intelligence company.” 

A Dow Jones spokesperson was not immediately available for comment. 

The last person to lead comms for Dow Jones was Jennifer Thurman, who served as chief comms officer from November 2021 to February of this year. Thurman could not be immediately reached to comment on her next career move.

Dow Jones’ brands include The Wall Street Journal, Barron’s, MarketWatch and Financial News. The company recently inked a deal with media platform Cision to help comms and marketing professionals better manage their reputations and monitor business-critical topics.

Sinha formerly served as SVP and head of corporate comms and PR at audio entertainment company Audacy. There, he also managed internal comms and executive thought leadership. An Audacy representative could not be immediately reached to comment on Sinha’s replacement. 

Before Audacy, Sinha spent nearly five years at WarnerMedia as VP of corporate comms. He also has agency experience from a stint at Publicis Media as SVP of corporate comms. Earlier in his career, Sinha held senior comms roles at NBCUniversal, Viacom and Product(RED).

Sinha was on PRWeek’s Pride in PR list last year.

Dow Jones is owned by News Corp. For News Corp’s fiscal Q4 2023, which ended on June 30, Dow Jones posted revenue of $546 million, representing a 3% decrease from the prior year.
