Power companies work to restore power in River Valley
Thousands of people were without power on Sunday morning after a round of storms passed through parts of Northwest Arkansas and the River Valley.”We experienced outages kind of sporadic throughout the district all the way from Lamar up to Winslow over to Fort Smith,” OG&E Community Affairs Manager Eddie Lee Herndon said.Crews started to work on outages before the sun came up on Sunday morning.”We have troubleshooters go out very carefully to start examining and assessing the lines,” Herndon said. “After daylight, we’re able to actually have a much better idea of what’s going on.”With more storms expected in the River Valley and Northwest Arkansas on Sunday evening and throughout the week, crews are keeping a close eye on the forecast.”We’re just keeping an eye on it and monitoring these early spring storms as they come,” Herndon said. “In the event that we do get severe weather like wind, tornadoes or hail damage, our crews will be rolling immediately once we get the all-clear on safety.”
