Fridays have just turned up a notch or two with Post Malone delivering a thumping performance on his new single, Goodbyes, that features Trap music’s Elton John, Young Thug.
While one could never pick out a collaboration between these two alternative artists, it would have always made sense.
They are both different.
Why Post Malone featuring Young Thug makes sense
Malone’s melancholic crooning on wavy lo-fi beats has made him the megastar that he is today. His performance at the recent Castle Lite Unlocks event was a testament to his global stardom.
Thugga, on the other hand, is of similar stature, in his own right. The rap singer has marked down his own lane in a congested scene where everyone delivers high-pitched vocals on Hip-Hop beats.
His talents have seen him get praise from Elton John, who publicly admitted that he loved Thugga and was honoured to collaborate with him on his latest song titled High.
“It was a really nice meeting but I didn’t know what to call him, Thug? Mr Thug? Sir Thug? I could see the headline in the paper: Queen meets Thug. But anyway, it was a really nice meeting and I loved him,”
Goodbyes fan reaction
The song dropped on Friday, alongside the music video. Fans took to social media to share their thoughts on it. These are our top picks.
