Young Thug Is a Fashion Designer Now

No stranger to the widely popular backpack and luggage streetwear brand, Young Thug has been sporting Sprayground for a few years now. Today (March 20), he takes his Sprayground support one step further, teaming up for a collaboration with the brand.

David Ben-David, founder and creative director of Sprayground, tells Billboard how the collaboration is Thug’s foray into the fashion world: “Young Thug has a great fashion game and a great fashion name, but he never designed fashion or accessories before. I wanted to bring him into my world.” Ben-David’s experience sitting in on some of Thug’s sessions led him to create his own music, with the project “Money on the Plane” releasing this summer.

Ben-David says even though he has worked with many artists in the past, Thug’s music and aura is truly inspiring and unique. “I have been blessed to have done collaborations and have relationships with many of today’s most influential artists, who have such an amazing, profound effect on today’s music culture,” he said. “Artists like Chris Brown, The Game and others. But it was Young Thug that pushed the pedal on this new wave I am taking, and it all stems from when he performed in his studio — it was a like a soul came out of his body.”

Take a look at two of the backpacks available in the collection (Diamond Cubes backpack, $65 and Purple Tie Dye Shark backpack, $80) below.
